Will Chalker is a British male model who was born in East Sussex, England in 1980. Before he became a model he originally earned his living as a construction worker. However, in 1998 he was discovered at the age of eighteen when he was on the job at a construction site. Then, in 2000 a friend took head shots of him and he used these to get signed on with the modelling agency, 1 Model Management. His first major professional job was in 2002 when he appeared on the cover of a French gay magazine, TȆTU. The next year he was in an advertising campaign for Yves Saint Laurent.

In 2004 Will Chalker made an even bigger name for himself when he appeared in a special farewell show for Gucci thrown by Tom Ford. He opened and closed the catwalk, but when he first walked onto the runway he did so carrying a bottle of whiskey. This only worked to enhance his bad boy image and looks, and it helped him to officially launch his modelling career in earnest. A few months later Chalker made an appearance in a GQ editorial, but this was just the tip of the iceberg. In fact, in July of 2004 he walked down the runway for a Dolce & Gabbana show while holding onto a baby tiger. It was clear by the special attention that he was getting on the catwalk alone that he had managed to make a name for himself.
Growing in popularity
The strength of the young Chalker’s popularity was proven in October of 2004 when he became the first man to ever be nominated for the award of overall Best Model in the British Fashion Awards. This was a huge testament to his ability to appeal to audiences on all levels. Subsequently the next year was a very busy one for Chalker as the popularity of his modelling career rose. He appeared in L’Uomo Vogue, was the spokesperson for Pace Rabanne BlackXS perfume, was in advertisements for Mar O’Polo, Zara, Bottega Veneta, and even appeared with Gisele Bundchen for an advertising campaign for Valentino. 2006 was also a busy year for Will Chalker as he was featured in a series of Levi jeans television commercials while simultaneously working with Louis Vuitton as the face fo their new accessories advertising campaign. Recent endeavours
While he has not been working as much in recent years, this is probably because Chalker reached a point in his career where he could be choosier about the type of work that he does. For example, he has appeared in advertising campaigns for companies like DSquared, Gap, and Ermenegildo Zegna in 2007 and 2008. During that time he also managed to keep up with traditional modelling somewhat as he was featured on the cover of Upstreet and was also photographed to appear in an editorial for the Spanish version of Esquire magazine. He is still signed with multiple modelling companies, so even though he is not as prolific that he has been in the past, you can bet that it won’t be long before you’ll see Chalker’s rugged good looks in another advertising campaign. |
