The Wonderful Miss Muise
Andi is the only child of Lynn (a gym instructor) and Rod Muise (a dry wallist), who resides in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Ever since she was little, she was already fond of dressing up in her mom’s clothes and surveying herself in the mirror. Little did she know that she would truly become a model. When she was discovered, she needed to quit high school to focus on modeling full time. Her parents supported her in her decision and eventually became her biggest fans.
In fact, in a room in their house, Lynn Muise has dedicated a whole wall to chronicle her daughter’s career. The “Brag Wall”, as they fondly call it, is covered with pictures of Andi from her first ever photo shoot to her most recent ones. Family friends and guests who come to visit are given a tour to this room by the proud parents.
In an interview with Fashion TV, Andi Muise also showed a world map stuck on the wall of the mentioned room. Her mother puts a pin in the countries where her daughter has gone to. She keeps track of her with a special dragonfly pin to tell where she currently is.
Oh, the places she has been
Andi Muise first started doing local print campaigns in Canada for some companies, such as Bonnebell cosmetics, as well as modeling for fashion companies the likes of Armani and FCUK.
When she was ready for the bigger international scene, Muise relocated to New York in 2004. At 17, she had to learn to live on her own while making her presence known in the fashion sphere. She signed with DNA Management who took care of representing her.
Andi Muise debuted on the runway for the fall show of Badgly Mischka and went on to walk for premium designers including Lacoste, Victoria´s Secret, Lela Rose, Dolce & Gabbana, Rock & Republic and Abaeta. She also appeared in the second season finale of the hit reality show Project Runway as a model for Santino Rice, one of the contestant finalists.
But her biggest break came when she walked in the glamorous lingerie event Victoria’s Secret 10th annual fashion show. Their every show is much anticipated in the fashion industry and it has launched to fame supermodels like Tyra Banks and Gisele Bundchen. Andi Muise continued modeling for the lingerie empire the next year and came out in their catalogs, as well and in 2007, where she was their “Fit Model” for the show.
After that, she has been constantly busy with projects that kept coming her way. In 2005, Muise posed for her first cover for Harper’s and Queens. Cover shots for British Glamour and Italian D followed. It is obvious how the camera loves her every time the striking model appears in editorials for magazines that include British Vogue, Italian Flair, Allure, Glamour and Elle.
The following year, she modeled for the look book of Dolce and Gabbana. Andi signed a contract to become a model endorser for Pantene Pro V and Emporio Armani Underwear, who renewed her contract until 2007. Bloomingdale’s, Intimissimi, Keneth Cole, Nike and American Urban Outfitters are just some of the other brands she has worked with for advertising.
What makes her tick?
In a feature interview by Fashion TV in 2006, she granted her fans an inside peek on the Andi away from the limelight.
According to Michelle Miller, her discovering agent, she saw Muise’s transformation into a different woman of pure style. At home with her parents, though, she still worries what dad has to say about her often seductive pictures and shares a nervous laugh with her mom about how strange it is for them to see Andi in her underwear. Nevertheless, they try to understand her and the industry she revolves in because they know the passion that went into that kind of life.
It’s evident that she takes modeling seriously but Muise likes to laugh, too, despite the stress and unpredictability of her chosen field. When you look into those almond eyes, you can see that this girl knows what she wants and is not afraid to get it.
Dreams and realities
Next on her to-do list is acting. She’s already got an acting agent in New York and she is looking forward to trying her luck in showbiz. When she decides to leave modeling, she dreams of becoming an agent or a stylist. She’s also hoping to give back something for her country that’s why recently, Muise went back to Canada to look for representation. She chose the Elmer Olsen Model Management and the renowned agent couldn’t be more happy to receive her with open arms.
