Michael’s Work on the Runway
Michael made her runway debut in February of 2007 in New York. She opened for 3.1 Philip Lim and for Alice Roi. Later that month, she walked for Marc Jacobs in London, and she later said that Jacobs was her absolute favourite designer. The next month, Michaels opened the fall Lanvin show in Paris. Michaels then took time off from the runway, and she would not walk in a show again until February of 2008. The closed the fall Y & Kei show and also appeared on the runway for Marc Jacobs, 3.1 Philip Lim, and DKNY. Her next runway appearance wouldn’t be until September of 2008, when she opened the spring show for Louise Golden in London. She also walked for Fendi, Balenciaga, Burberry, Karl Legerfield, and Christian Dior in shows in Paris and Milan. Following that show, Michael would make very few runway appearances. In fact, she was noticeably absent from Fashion Week events in London, New York, Milan, and Paris.

She also appeared on the Today Show to talk about how models are under pressure to remain thin and how this pressure caused her to develop an eating disorder. This appearance made Michael into a role model for many young women with eating disorders, and she has consistently spoken out about the modelling world’s focus on weight.
