Alison Stephens, or Ali as she is generally known, was born on 10 May 1991. She was born in San Clemente, California, and she lived her early years in California. However, her family moved around often, and she grew up in Indiana, Florida, Ohio, and Utah. Her last move was in October of 2007 to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she currently lives. Until she was discovered by a Pulse Management agent while shopping in Salt Lake City in 2007, she knew very little about the fashion world and was not really interested in modelling. Stephens is currently represented by Elite Model Management, Marilyn Agency, and Why Not.

Stephens made her runway debut at the spring Prada show in 2007 as an exclusive. She then opened the spring Chole show and walked for Dries van Noten, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Givenchy. Her next major runway appearance was not until January of 2008 when she modelled for Givenchy and Chanel in shows in Paris and appeared as the only woman in the Chloe pre-fall show. Later that year, she appeared at the New York Fashion Week for the first time and opened the Calvin Klein show. She then closed the CNC Costume National, Balenciaga, and Roberto Cavalli shows in Paris and Milan in February of 2008. In July of that year, she modelled for Chanel, Givenchy, Anne Valerie Hash, and Christian Dior. She continued walking in the fall, opening of Peter Som show and closing the shows for Sophia Kokosalaki, Preen, and Jonathan Sanders in September. She closed out 2008 by opening the pre-fall show for Oscar de la Renta in New York.
In 2009, Stephens continued her runway work by walking for Valentino, Balenciaga, Lanvin, Donna Karan, Fendi, and Carolina Herrera in shows in Paris, Milan, and New York.
Stephens’s first photography was for Pop, where she was named as a rising star. She later was photographed for Calvin Klein, Gap, and Prada Sport. She then appeared in 2008 issues of T Style, French Vogue, Numero, Italian Vogue, and French Vogue. She appeared on her first cover in March of 2008 when Korean W magazine featured her.
