|Alison Nix - The Early Years
Fashion model Alison Nix was born in 1988 in Denver, Colorado in the United States, although she grew up in Las Vegas. She signed up with Ford Models in 2005 and since that time has grown into one of the world’s foremost fashion models. By her own admission, despite the fame and fortune which is part of the package of being an accomplished fashion model today, her two brothers, who she looks up to tremendously, keep her feet firmly on the ground, making sure Alison doesn’t let anything go to her head. This was to be a vital part of Alison’s demeanour – her humility.
In her early foray into the glamorous (and not so glamorous) world of modelling, her mother was the one who gave her the most inspiration, always on hand to give advice when needed, as well as being the calming, relaxing influence during frantic fashion week's and exhausting photo shoots. Her best friend is another Ford model, Leslie Masson, who also gives her tremendous support during the most stressful moments – and the complement is often returned.
A Young Alison Signs for Ford Models
Upon signing for Ford, Alison's very first meaningful appearance in the public eye came when she appeared in a Teen Vogue editorial complete with photographs taken by Frederike Helwik. In September of the same year Alison Nix debuted at the spring shows of Marc Jacobs, Marni, and Missoni which took place in New York and Milan. The success of these shows ensured that Alison Nix was always in demand and in February of 2006 she appeared in the autumn shows for Marc by Marc Jacobs, Cynthia Rowley, Catherine Malandrino, and Yigal Azrouel in New York.
The Winds of Change Blow
But in 2006 Alison Nix left Ford Models and signed up with Women Management. She also cut her luscious long hair into a short, Louise Brooks-type bob in order to show it off at the Spring Fashion Week of that year. During the rest of 2006 she appeared in a myriad of important fashion magazine editorials, including the Italian Vogue, German Vogue, British Harper’s Bazaar and Numéro.
2007 was another busy year for the model, with more magazine appearances, as well as becoming the face of Cacharel. Alison Nix also modelled for the Barneys New York spring catalogue, the Elie Saab and Christian Dior couture shows that took place in Paris, does the Etro and Hugo by Hugo Boss autumn advertising campaigns, and finished off the year by taking part in the Paul Smith, 3.1 phillip lim, Y-3, John Galliano, and Christian Dior shows which took place in
London, Paris and New York.
In 2008 Alison Nix became the face of Valentino couture and does walks for Christian Dior, Elie Saab, Givenchy, John Galliano, Maison Martin Marigela, Armani Privé, Christian Dior, and Elie Saab, during the course of a very busy year. All this as well as appearing in several glossy fashion magazines worldwide.
2009 has brought much the same for this glamorous fashion model from Denver. The future still looks rosy if all the offers of work she receives are anything to go by. One thing is for sure though – we will be seeing a lot more of Alison Nix in the coming years.
