Early Life
Born in 1975 in Los Angeles, California, Beverly Peele is an American model who turned actress later in her life.  She was very popular as a model and has appeared on more than 250 covers.  She first began modelling in 1987 when she was 12.

On the Runway

While Peele has done a lot of photography and magazine work, her appearances in major runway shows have been fairly limited.  She did walk in the 1991 spring show for Comme des Garcons and Chanel in Paris, and she appeared in the 1992 show for Versace in Milan.

In Print

Most of Peele’s modelling work has been in publications and ad campaigns.  She appeared on the cover of Mademoiselle twice in 1989, just two years after beginning her career, and she also made the cover of Seventeen that year.  Also in 1989, she was photographed for a Versace campaign.  In 1991, she appeared in Vogue, in an Elle editorial, and made the cover of Elle.  The next year, she appeared in Vogue editorials and made the cover of British Vogue in addition to another Elle appearance.  She would appear in many different magazines during the 1990s, including Vogue, German Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Italian Vogue, and French Elle before retiring in 1995 to spend time with her daughter and because she no longer found modelling that enjoyable.  She has also appeared in ads for Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, and others.

As an Actress

Peele’s first acting role was in a music video for George Michael’s song “Too Funky” back in 1992, an appearance she made alongside other models.  In 1994, she appeared in the music video for Heavy D’s “Nuttin’ But Love.”  After retiring from modelling in 1995, she has focused mainly on acting.  She made an appearance as herself on the comedy Sister, Sister and appeared on Girlfriends.  In 2002, she co-starred with Zooey Deschanel in the movie Sweet Friggin’ Daisies.  She has also appeared on the Tyra Banks Show to discuss the dangers of eating disorders in the modelling world.

Arrest for Identity Theft

In December of 2005, Peele was arrested on charges of identity theft.  She had found a credit card in a grocery store and used that card to purchase furniture, appliances, and several other home products.  She was charged with two different counts of grand theft, and in 2006, she pled no contest.  She was given three years probation, ordered to perform 300 hours of community service, and told to pay back $4,000 in charges to the credit card holder and an additional $900 to American Express.

Personal Life

Peele has one daughter, Cairo, who was born in 1995.
