During Decker’s childhood, her family moved to Ohio and spent a year in Middletown and later on moved again to North Carolina when she was a teenager. Little did Brooklyn know that North Carolina was going to open doors for her into the modeling world, Brooklyn Decker was discovered while shopping in a mall in Charlotte.
The beautiful teen was still in high school at the time and she went to Butler High School in Matthews, North Carolina.
Her first modeling stint was for Mauri Simone - a designer house famous for tailoring and creating prom dresses and formal wear.
Decker was awarded the Model of the Year Award in 2003 at the Connections Model and Talent Convention which prompted several other opportunities for her. Her face began to appear everywhere---on popular pro magazines and on national periodicals.
The then very young Decker appeared on magazines like Teen Vogue, Delia’s, American Eagle, Hollister, Cosmopolitan, FHM, Glamour, Seventeen, Elle Girl, Spin, and Lucire.
Later on, she signed a contract with Evolution Models and Talent in Charlotte, North Carolina when she was only 15 years old. She underwent training and workshops to develop her modeling and acting skills. After a year, the company was able to help her have an opportunity to expand her horizons by placing her with the Marilyn Agency in New York and Paris, and the Click Model Management.
She moved to New York City in June 2005 when her popularity skyrocketed and everybody wanted her on their magazine covers or to be part of their shows.
She auditioned for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and appeared on the magazine in 2006. Legendary and famous models like Heidi Klum, Elle MacPherson, Rachel Hunter, and Rebecca Romjin were also on the same 2006 edition. She had another go on the magazine’s swimsuit editions in 2007 and 2008.
Not long after her debut on Sports Illustrated, she appeared in a Victoria’s Secret swimwear catalog. Victoria’s Secret immediately got her to model for them when they heard about her move to New York.
Working for two of the most well-known brands was somewhat unbelievable for the then 18-year old Decker. “So, there I was shooting Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated in the matter of one week,” she said in an interview by www.askmen.com. “I was completely outside myself that whole week. I would pray and I would say, “Lord, is this really happening or am I in a big dream?”
The Decker Stats
34-24-34, her job requires her to maintain a slim figure and there is always pressure to not gain weight.
Up to now, she is an endorser for several other popular brands such as Gap, JC Penney, Intissimi and Victoria’s Secret. Brooklyn is also the co-host of “She Says, Z Says,” a Sports Illustrated weekly show on the Sport Illustrated website, with Paul Zimmerman.
In the show, Decker and Zimmerman each do their weekly football picks and discuss the NFL matches of the week. She is also one of the Sports New York casts who will talk about the upcoming NCAA basketball tournament. She shows us that she is not only a hot model but she knows her sports as well.
Even if she has moved to a different state, Decker is a true-blooded North Carolina chick at heart. Decker is still a fan of her home state teams, the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Carolina Panthers.
Aside from modeling, she also appeared on the music videos of Jimmy Buffett and 3 Doors Down. She also had guest appearances on shows like NBC’s Chuck, USA Network’s Royal Pains and The Dan Patrick Show. Mclovin’, a The Dan Patrick Show blogger, mentioned that Brooklyn Decker might be appearing on the show at least once every three weeks.
She appeared on one episode of Chuck where she played the role of a job applicant to be a Buy More girl. On Royal Pains, she played the role of swimsuit model Rachel Ryder, wife to House star Peter Jacobson.
Another one of her TV appearances was in 2007 alongside Leslie Nielson on the pilot of the NBC show called “Lipshitz saves the World” where she played the role of Rebecca Fellini, a villain.
She also hosted the Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit show in 2007 and 2008. She is set to appear on an upcoming episode of Ugly Betty where she will play Betty’s co-worker, Lexie.
In 2007, she began dating American tennis icon Andy Roddick. They first met after Andy Roddick saw Brooklyn Decker in the 2007 Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition and he asked his agent to track down Decker’s number. The tennis sensation admitted that he was captured by the model’s long legs. They hooked up in New York and the rest is history.
The couple had been photographed several times together holding hands. During Roddick’s matches, a tall, blond girl could be seen cheering on the sidelines. Two of the most memorable of those moments was during the 2007 Davis Cup final match between USA and Russia where she was seen in the crowd supporting the American tennis pro and at the Wimbledon 2008.
They announced their engagement on March 31, 2008 after dating for about two years. They got married on April 17, 2009 in a private wedding ceremony held at the tennis superstar’s lakeside home in Austin, Texas. He was 25, she was 20. Decker wore a Vera Wang gown. The celebration continued at a local country club owned by Andy Roddick where the legendary musician, Sir Elton John, serenaded the newlyweds and their guests.
Other famous people on their guest list were Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff, who are both tennis superstars as well.
They spent their honeymoon in Costa Rica. People magazine interviewed Decker on how it was after the wedding. She said, “It is great. It’s amazing. Feels the same, it’s the same as being engaged, it’s the same as dating.”
