American model Edythe Hughes was born on 25 January 1990 in Alexandria, Ohio. A relative newcomer in the modelling world, Hughes began modelling in 2007. She has appeared in a number of different publications, however, and has walked in several major shows. She is considered an up and coming model and is expected to appear in many more ad campaigns and shows. She is represented by Elite Model Management of New York, Models 1, Marilyn Agency of Paris, Why Not Model Agency, and Ford Models Europe.
Hughes has bluish-green eyes and blonde hair. She stands 179 cm tall, and her measurements are 81-61-87. She wears a size 34 dress and a size 40 shoe. She is known for her long legs and unique facial structure.
On the Runway
Hughes made her runway debut in February of 2007 when she walked in the Calvin Klein fall show as an exclusive. She then walked in the New York spring show for Vera Wang, Peter Som, and Rebecca Taylor in September of 2007. Hughes also modelled on the Oprah Winfrey show, wearing clothing from Vera Wang’s Very Vera line. In October, she closed the Undercover show in Paris. The next year, in February of 2008, she opened the fall Eley Kishimoto show. In September, she walked in spring shows for Emporio Armani, Vivienne Tam, Chado Ralph Rucci, and Marchesa in both Milan and New York.
Velvet gave Hughes her first editorial appearance in May of 2007 in a spread photographed by Kutlu. She then appeared in editorials for Dazed & Confused and Glamour in August of 2007. In September, WWD named her a “new recruit” to the modelling world. This was followed by an appearance in Teen Vogue, Mixte, and the Spanish version of Harper’s Bazaar. In 2008, she appeared in the French L’Officiel, where she was photographed by Harri Peccinotti.
Forbes magazine featured Hughes in their article on “A Day in the Life of a Young Model” in which they followed her around for a day and took note of her routine.
Hughes is close friends with several other models, including Kate Somers, Danielle Hamm, and Simona McIntyre. She is known for making the statement that she has “no idea how much money I make,” a quote that made some wonder if young models are taken advantage of financially. She said this when she was 17, however, so she has since matured.
